Diamonds are a miracle of time, incredible heat, and immense pressure. Unique like fingerprints, no two diamonds are exactly alike.
Prior to the mid twentieth century, there were no set standards by which diamonds were graded. The Gemological Institute of America created the first and now globally accepted standards for grading diamonds. Today, these standards of grading are known as the 4Cs and are universally accepted in accessing the quality of all diamonds worldwide. This ensures that the consumer can be knowledgeable about the characteristics of their diamond and gives them piece of mind about their diamond purchase.
